About Us
Mission:
To build a a stronger community by cultivating a diverse group of new and existing leaders who will effectively serve, unite and benefit the residents of San Benito County
What is Leadership San Benito County?
Leadership San Benito County is a countywide leadership development program. Each year, approximately 30 people will be trained through this professional course of study. This 12-month program consists of 3 major components: community awareness, skills training and personal development.
Leadership SBC hopes to enroll participants who represent the diversity of San Benito County. When participants complete the Leadership San Benito County program, they will be empowered with skills, knowledge, and a better understanding of the needs of the community. Those who complete the course are expected to actively use the leadership skills for the benefit of their community.
How was Leadership San Benito County created?
The roots for Leadership San Benito County were planted at the SBC Chamber of Commerce Board Planning Retreat in November 2002. The SBC Chamber of Commerce agreed to “incubate” the Leadership Program, thus allowing the Chamber to provide the program with
much-needed support to make it a reality.
Why is a leadership program needed?
Along with hundreds of communities across the country, San Benito County is realizing and acting on the need to expand our base of community leaders who will effectively guide us into the future. One way to insure a better future for our community is to build knowledge, understanding and relationships from within.
What are the goals of Leadership SBC?
To offer a comprehensive informational foundation on the “who, what, when, where, why and how” of the various community sectors that serve and enhance San Benito County’s quality of life.
To introduce participants to current issues, problems and opportunities affecting San Benito County.
To help forge a greater sense of community in San Benito County by demonstrating to representatives of its various sectors the inter-relationships of our social, economic and governmental systems.
To build peer relationships among participants, alumni and key civic leaders.
To provide training in leadership skills that will translate into improved social, business and economic conditions.
