LSBC Scholarship Policy
Scholarship Procedures:
All those who apply for a position with LSBC will be accepted or rejected for program participation without regard for their financial ability to participate in the program.
Scholarship applications should be turned in with program applications and the need for a scholarship and the scholarship policy will be discussed with the applicant at the end of the applicant’s interview.
All those who request a scholarship will be evaluated for need. The LSBC “Applicant Review and Selection Committee” shall award all scholarships.
Scholarship Priorities:
Applicants who demonstrate a clear financial need will be given the highest priority for receiving a scholarship. If the number of scholarships will not meet the need for scholarships, other factors will be considered including:
The likelihood or potential of the applicant to benefit the community through the program or
To insure broad community representation from the various sectors of the community (i.e. public and private sectors, nonprofit and for profits, and target issues areas of education, health and human services, agriculture, public safety and the arts).
To insure the diversity in the class as a whole, including diversity of: ethnicity, gender, age, level of civic or volunteer experience and geographic areas.
While the Board and Selection Committee currently consider a scholarship to be one-half the amount of the tuition, the Committee can make a recommendation to the Board to:
Either reduce the amount of the scholarship in order to provide a reduced level of support to a greater number of participants
Provide a greater level of financial support to a candidate depending on the need and consideration of factors noted above.
